The
beginnings of the Grenadier Group found their inspiration in the
entrepreneurial vision of John Caragianakos who in 1981 took over
the fledging Grenadier Restaurant and orchestrated a swift operational
and financial turnaround.
The entrepreneurial spirit and the
success of the Grenadier Restaurant led to other concessions located
in the Park and then along the Western Beaches as a result of efficient
food service and sound business practices leading to Grenadier fulfilling
its obligations as a responsible partner to the City of Toronto.
Our sterling relationship with the City of Toronto has resulted
in four consecutive lease extensions at the restaurant in High Park,
with the opportunity to operate the Grenadier Restaurant to the
year 2016. Based on its success in turning around a financially
and operationally troubled restaurant, the City awarded a tender
to the Group in 1991 to take over operations for the other concessions
in the Park. Almost concurrently, Grenadier was awarded continuing
concessions at Sunnyside to establish and provide long term stable
management of the area.
Not withstanding the confidence
which the City of Toronto has placed in Grenadier and the financial
opportunities which it has generated, Grenadier, while remaining
true to its core business and values, has transitioned into a full
service catering and entertainment business.
